Lost

Where or where has our luggage gone? Oh where oh where can it be?

We waited until all the bags had cleared the conveyor and only two of our four bags made it. The golf clubs (good!) and the suitcase with the toys for the kids (also good). Neither of the two suitcase with all our clothes showed up. And, in an effort to arrive in Manila fresh and cleaning smelling, we had cleaned up in the airport in Hong Kong, thrown out our underwear, and changed into fresh shirts that were in our carry on bag. Damn. Could have used that extra underwear now.

I was so grateful for our two assistants who helped us fill out the forms and reassured us that they would find our bags. At that time I was still floating on a high and wasn't at all worried.

Outside, we were greeted by the real Fed who returned my hug with equal fervor. There were three other Rotarians there with a huge banner welcoming members from the Rotary Club of Red Deer East. Big smiles, hugs, just a hugely warm reception. The two lucky bags were loaded into an SUV and we piled into various vehicles and off to the first of 30 meals we've had in the last 3 days. I'm not joking. If I can eat 8 times a day - as they do here - and look as stick thin as the women do here - then I'm moving!
