January 3, 2020 Singapore
We took the hop on/hop off bus today, which is a great way to see the city. Got on in Chinatown, not far from our hotel, and got off at the fabulous Marina Bay Sands. Wow. What an amazing hotel. They have a Sky Park which costs $28 to view, but it's worth it. We could have had a Singapore Sling there for $25, but I thought that was too expensive. If you've see our FB posting, you'll see that we actually paid $35 to have one at the Raffles hotel.
We walked through an arbour of stunning orchids from the Amazon. Many were huge and colourful, but they also had tiny, tiny orchids which had magnifying glasses hanging in front of them so we could actually see the flower.
Fantastic wooden sculptures were everywhere in the foliage.
This was a breathtaking waterfall, evidently the highest indoor waterfall in the world. And as you step into the Cloud Forest, the temperature dropped about 15 degrees from the mugginess and heat outside.
Taken as we walked to the Gardens by the Bay from the Marina Bay Sands. You can see the surfboard atop the three towers, which contains the Sky Park that we toured ($28 and worth it).
The fabulous infinity pool available to guests at the Marina Bay Sands. I would love to be in that pool!! It's above the third tower, and you can see the ocean in the background and the rest of the hotel tower underneath. Rooms are $800/night.
The two flower domes at the Gardens by the Sea. The entire gardens are free, but you buy a ticket to view the two domes - $28 for adults for both, and they don't sell tickets to just one dome. It was fabulous.
A perspective of the Singapore Flyer with the city as its backdrop.
This is the only photo I took while on the hop on bus. The building is only a block from our hotel, the Furama City Center.
This was in the Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. Hanging terrariums.
Looks like baby Audrey from the Little Shop of Horrors. Hans tentatively approached it with his finger so I could show scale, but he didn't want to get too close.

An aerial view of some interesting structures whose pillars are covered with vines and flowers. Eventually they will be completely covered. They light up at night, but by then we were having dinner by the River Walk and too far away to see them.
The Singapore Flyer has an overall height of 541' and costs $24 for a senior, but it didn't seem to be moving when we were there. At night, we could see it lit up and I guess it only turns at night. It takes about 30 minutes to go around once. It was the world's tallest until 2014 when another one opened in Vegas which is 9' higher.
