September 24, Finisterre
We found a hotel with a fabulous view of the town and the harbour from our 4th floor room. We paid only 15 euros each for a room with two large beds and a full bathroom across the hall. Interestingly, the main floor of the hotel was being used to manufacture fishing nets. Photo 905: Hard at work.
Later, as I walked back from a mercado where I had gone to pick up some supplies, a car honked at me. It was Janos and his family, who had just arrived from Santiago. Photo 877: Janos, Zsuzsa and Aliz.
Even better, they had passed Krisztina on the road about five kilometres away, as she was walking from Santiago. She arrived 30 minutes later and we had a joyful reunion. Later, along with Markus, we walked down to the beach where Krisztina went for a swim in the cold Atlantic; the rest of us, being older and wiser, dipped just our feet in the water. Photo 879: Three and a half amigos!
In the evening we walked the last three kilometres to the lighthouse at Cabo Finisterre where we watched the sun sink into the ocean, hopefully to return the next day. Then, as per tradition, we burned our old and sweaty clothes and walked back to Finisterre for a delightful dinner. Photo 886: Two "peregrinos" with the lighthouse in the distance.
Photo 888: The modern lighthouse.
Photo 893: Will it return tomorrow?
Photo 902: The traditional burning of clothes.
Photo 903: Reunited at the end of the Camino.
Thus my Camino ended.
